Testing Object Oriented UML Models
Lee Copeland, SQE

The tutorial aims to:

  • introduce the four most important diagrams used in object oriented development.
  • describe the UML notation used for these diagrams.
  • give a set of practical questions a tester can ask to evaluate the quality of these object oriented diagrams.
This tutorial describes the four most important UML diagrams:
  • Use case diagrams
  • Sequence diagrams
  • Class diagrams
  • State-transition diagrams
These four diagrams, taken together, form the basic model of an object oriented system. For each diagram this tutorial also:
  • Describes its purpose
  • Explains its notation and gives an example
  • Provides a set of questions you as a tester can use to evaluate the quality of these diagrams

The tutorial gives the participants a set of practical questions that will help you determine and evaluate the quality of these object oriented diagrams.
