A smoothly running project can become troubled in no time due to multiple reasons like gap in estimation, sudden reduction in Timelines to align with business needs, gap in scope and lack of competency available in the Project’s technology domain. Each one of these reasons in turn poses multiple different challenges in day-to-day Project Management and ineffective handling of any of these may have a severe impact on the quality of deliverables as well as the project timelines. This paper focuses on the various challenges thrown by a project, which becomes troubled due to “sudden reduction in timelines to align with business need” and effective practical ways of dealing these day-to-day project management challenges. This paper also, presents a Trouble Identification & Recovery framework which helps categorize the project as troubled based on a quantitative method and provides effective techniques for managing various project management aspects.
