What is Easy to See is Easy to Miss - Realizing benefits of ITSM frameworks and best practices using People CMM
  Amit Srivastava, Managing Consultant
  IBM Global Business Services UK

With growing number of frameworks, models, methods and best practices, it is quite easy for IT leaders to miss the obvious i.e. the 'People' aspect of any project or improvement program. Guided by one of the key findings of the IBM Global CEO Study (2008), the paper identifies top 10 people issues and discusses the ways to address them by using proven People CMM which, so far, is a little-known framework based on a well-known maturity model. To ensure quality, consistency and maturity of people in day to day work, it requires re-thinking. Importance of people rises in an environment where global skills sourcing, immense business change and competitive pressures are ever increasing. Understanding the people aspect will define the difference between organizations that can continuously improve and survive and those that cannot. Many leaders might consider this in the domain of HR Executives, however, any leader whose success depends upon the quality and competency of their people should appreciate the importance.

Amit comes with over 10 years of experience in Management Consulting. As a ITIL Manager Certified, he has worked in highly complex multi sourcing environments on IBM’s key business transformational programmes. As a member of British Computer Society, he reviews/authors the Skills Framework. His recent paper “Don’t Manage! Govern” was selected by the itSMF SA. Amit has degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Cass Business School, London UK.
